COVID-19 Cases in PNG rise to 32
Papua New Guinea confirmed an additional case of COVID-19 today from the National Capital District.
To date, the country has a total of 32 confirmed cases: 20 are in isolation and 11 have recovered.
Investigation is currently underway for case 32 and the patient has been isolated.
Port Moresby General Hospital is picking up cases because they are doing tests on staff, patients and guardians. These cases indicate community spread and more cases expected the PM said.
Meanwhile, the 14 Cases announced this week have all been in isolation at Rita Flynn.
As of today, tested 9, 885 persons have been tested, of which 32 have confirmed positive.
8, 975 samples have been tested; of the total; 8, 945 turned out negative while 592 are pending results.
292 samples are in Singapore to be tested while 300 have been packaged and will be sent to Brisbane tomorrow.
There is community transmission in Port Moresby.
The Prime Minister is reminding all to be vigilant.
