Papua New Guinea Police investigators are yet to locate the pilot of the twin engine Cessna aircraft that crash landed on in bushes of Papa in Central Province on Sunday.

Police Dog Unit Officer in Charge Jack Hori says initial investigations on site indicate that the drug cocaine was main cargo onboard the aircraft.

But he says a large number of the drug was moved and the plane looked like it was deliberately put on fire.

Investigators also say from their initial assessment the pilot had fled the plane and the cargoes transported were immediately removed

Police also found that a run way was made specifically for a plane to land at that area.

Police investigators are working in collaboration with Australia Federal Police, The PNG Air Accident Investigation Commission and the Airport services to piece the puzzle of this mysterious flight.

Winston San Martin the Investigations Manager Advisor at the PNG Air Accident Commission says their investigations will aim to uncover how the plane crashed or landed  as they received a distressed signal from the aircraft on Sunday.

HE also says investigations will uncover if the aircraft had a flight plan and relevant approvals for landing in PNG.
