PNG Records Second Death from Coronavirus
Papua New Guinea now has second death due to the COVID-19 . PNG's Deputy Controller and Acting Health Secretary Dr. Paison Dakulala has today announced another suspected death from COVID-19 in the Nation's Capital.
Dr. Dakulala told a media briefing this afternoon, that the case of a 35 year old who passed on over the weekend, and announced by Prime Minister James Marape yesterday, has been confirmed as a death due to COVID-19.
Dr. Dakulala says according to a copy of the deceased's death certificate, he died due to respiratory illness as a result of COVID-19.
He says a second suspected death will be confirmed tomorrow - Wednesday 29th July 2020.
While the authorities have claimed that this first case has died of COVID-19, his relatives have denied these statements, saying their relative died from other health issues and not COVID-19.
PNG now has a total of 62 confirmed cases with 51 active cases now admitted at the Rita Flyn Isolation Center.
