PNG Govt deploys Defence Force Soldiers as COVID-19 Cases Spike
The Marape-Steven government is deploying the Papua New Guinea Defence Force Soldiers to assist the police in the COVID- 19 emergency operations in the country.
Deputy Controller of the National Pandemic Response Dr. Paison Dakulala says this is part of Government's strategy as it addresses the spike in cases and law and order.According to NBC, Governor General Sir Bob Dadae signed the instruments for the call out on Thursday on the advise of the National Executive Council.
It was gazetted the same day.
The PNG Defence Force will assist police maintain law and order during the COVID-19 National Pandemic Security operations throughout PNG from the 1st of this month to the 1st of November this year.
