PNG Police arrest, lock up 21 Foreigners
A total of 21 foreigners mainly, Indonesians, Malaysians and Filipinos were arrested and locked up at the Popondetta Police Cells.
They were all charged for breaching immigration laws.
All these foreigners were apprehended at two (2) separate logging sites at Musa Foru and Ifane areas.
Over 30 unregistered vehicles moving around in the logging sites were directed by the investigation team not to be driven around until clearance is sought from transport department.
Logging camps around the country in recent times have become hot spots for alleged illegal activities.
This is posing a threat to the security of this country and the government through the Immigration Minister , Westly Nukundi Nukundj is serious about getting to the bottom of it.
The 21 who were arrested and charged today are now out on police bail and will appear before the Popondetta District court.
Meanwhile investigations are continuing into the case of 16 who fled last week, and are believed to be in Port Moresby.
Investigations in Port Moresby will include the establishment of the whereabouts of the 16 and also indentify and question the agent responsible for obtaining entry visa and work permit for those who were arrested and charged today.
