PNG political instability must not dissuade ABG Government in the Post Referendum consultations: President Toroama
The recent political instability at the national level must not dissuade the Autonomous Bougainville Government and National Government in the Post Referendum Consultations.
The threat of a Vote of No Confidence in the National Government has been viewed as detrimental to the progress made in recent pre-Joint Supervisory Body meeting with the ABG and the National Government led by Prime Minister James Marape.
President Ishmael Toroama said that Bougainville remains an observer in the current political uprising but the ABG is confident the JSB Meeting will still take place before the year is out.
The President reassured the people that these types of political changes will not deviate Bougainville from its priorities in the Post Referendum Consultations and the JSB Meetings with the National Government.
President Toroama remains adamant that the proper JSB must be progress to strengthen the rapport the ABG and Prime Minister James Marape have developed in the last two months.
The President also made mention of the Minister for Communication and Information Technology and Member for South Bougainville Timothy Masiu who has maintained his loyalty to the Prime Minister faction.
He said the Minister’s choice to remain with the Prime Minister shows his commitment to the Bougainville process.
President Toroama said that he is confident that the Prime Minister will be steadfast in his commitment to Bougainville to start developing the framework for the 98% outcome of the referendum.
