Pruaitch Thanks MPs for Nominating Him as the Alternate PM Candidate
Member for Aitape Lumi and National Alliance Party leader Patrick Pruaitch has acknowledged the support of members of the Opposition for nominating him as the alternate Prime Minister for the alternate government.
Mr. Pruaitch said the group's main focus is to save P-N-G and restore confidence back in government.
He said the team comprises three former Prime Ministers and deputy prime ministers and is confident of moving the country forward.
Mr. Pruaitch reminded members of the Opposition that they have a lot of work to do particularly in restoring the economy.
''I am so grateful on behalf of the National Alliance Party that I was chosen among equal to be heading this team.
''We have a lot of work to do in this short time, but with the wealth of experience we have among our group, I think we can collectively restore some of the aligning problems that we have particular we have in our economy.
''We stand ready to effect those changes, and we want to assure the Paua New Guineans in that this team will no doubt get into business as soon as we get into the new government,'' said Pruaicth.
The Opposition has announced Member for Aitape Lumi Patrick Pruaitch as its nominee as its preferred Prime Minister in the looming vote of no confidence.
Opposition Leader Belden Namah announced this yesterday, shortly after Parliament was adjourned to tomorrow, Wednesday, December 16th.
Members of the Opposition voted through a secret ballot on Sunday night their alternate candidate for Prime Minister.
Mr. Pruaitch collected 27 votes while Sam Basil received 24 votes from a total of 51 votes.
