PNG Public Schools Expect Huge Curriculum Reform

The curriculum that is taught in all public schools in Papua New Guinea will expect a huge reform this year.

This will see the abolishment of the Outcome-Based Education to the Standard Based Education as well as the teaching of the  Need-Based Curriculums at all public schools.

PNG Education Secretary Dr. Uke Kombra said the National Education System will also make it compulsory for all primary schools to enroll four-year-olds at kindergarten.

Dr.Kombra said the Standard Based Education will be taught together with the Need-Based curriculum.

Some of the Need-Based Curriculum subjects which will be made compulsory include Financial Literacy, Christian Citizenship and Wellness Education which is based on biblical principles, and others.

According to Dr. Kombra, some of these subjects are already taught at the Elementary and Primary school level in the country and shortly they will be introduced at the Secondary Schools.
