Antonov AN124 Flies into Port Moresby , PNG
Port Moresby International Airport (PMIA), was privileged to host the Antonov AN124 on ground on Thursday to facilitate movement of heavy cargoes.
The wider body plane is in Port Moresby for a day, the Antonov AN-124 Ruslan is a large, strategic airlift.
The four-engined aircraft was designed in the 1980s by the Antonov design bureau in the Ukrainian SSR, then part of the Soviet Union.
With a wingspan of 73m and Length of 69m, the AN124 can reach top speed of 865km/h. First flight by an AN124 was in December 1982.
Port Moresby International Airport having hosted APEC in 2018 with multiple Boeing 747-400 series, has the capacity to accept large Aircrafts including this AN-124 Antonov.
