PNG records five new COVID-19 cases on Sunday 4 July – total cases at 17,282

Papua New Guinea has recorded five new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, ending 12 midday on Sunday 04th of July, increasing the total number of cases to 17,282.


The cases were reported in two provinces, Western Highlands with four whilst Jiwaka reported a single case. All five cases were experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 at the time of testing. All five cases are males between the ages of 20 and 50.

The country’s COVID-19 cases now stands at 17,282 with 175 known deaths. All 22 provinces including the Autonomous Region of Bougainville (AROB) have reported cases.

Globally, the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 has reached 183,839,771 including 438,000 new cases reported in the last 24 hours. The death toll stands at 3,979,915 including 8,495 deaths reported in the last 24 hours.
