PNGTUC Raises Concerns about Vaccines and Employees

The PNG Trade Union Congress has raised concerns that certain companies in the country are forcing their employees to be vaccinated for covid 19.

PNGTUC is now calling on the government to clarify if the vaccination is compulsory or not

Vice President Ralph Waiyalaka issued the call, saying as a democratic country, the freedom of choice of workers must be respected.

''We need the government to come out clearly and tell the companies that it is a voluntary thing and that it should not be forced down the throat of workers.

''We have now seen organisations telling their employees that in order for you to do your work within the country, you need to get vaccinated to fly and that is contrary to what we were told, that you don't need vaccines to fly within the country,'' said TUC President.

Mr Waiyalaka said this after employees mostly from the private sector, raised concerns about certain companies enforcing a “No Jab, No Job,"  policy.
