Telikom Network to be restored in Buin , Bougainville

 The people of Buin and South Bougainville in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville will have access to the Telikom and Bemobile Network coverage soon.

The Minister for Information and Communications Technology and Member for South Bougainville Honorable Timothy Masiu presented a cheque of K150 000.00 to Telikom on Tuesday  10,  August in his office in Port Moresby.


Minister Masiu said this was agreed to  by his District Development Authority believing that it is of a good cause,  and this is to have access to very important services from bemobile and Telikom.

“Most part of Bougainville has access to Digicel and with Telikom and Bemobile on board as partners is a bonus as it is a huge step into improving ICT in South Bougainville”.

Minister Masiu said, they are using their money wisely to make sure important services are available to the people.

He said this is the first payment to begin work and the balance of another K150 000 will be paid soon.

“The Joint Supervisory Body Meeting is coming up later this year in Buin and we are preparing by having those important services readily available to host our National Leaders from the National Government, as well as those from the Autonomous Bougainville Government,” Minister Masiu said.

Acting Group Head of Public Affairs and External Stakeholders Engagement Kumul Telikom Holding Limited, Mr Jon N’Dramei on  receiving the first payment,  said that the facility can be restored in five days and the people of Buin and South Bougainville will be able to enjoy the 3G coverage having access to Voice and data through Telikom and Bemobile networks. 

Mr N’Dramei is encouraging all Districts to come forward in such an approach as they are ready to work with everyone.

He thanked Minister for taking this step in providing this important service to his people and assured the people of Buin and South Bougainville that the facility will be up and ready before the Joint Advisory Board Meeting.
