Missing Link Road Project Gulf-Southern Highlands Highway finally connects
The missing link Gulf- SHP Highlands Highway Road Project from Pawabi in Sambirigi to Walo Village about (12 kilometers) in Erave district is now connected with the completion of finery and earthworks undertaken by Civpac Construction as the major contractor of this section of the road project.

It’s about bringing the light under the tunnel after 45 years of independence and move over during the colonial era this section of the road from Kikori to Erave was the main track used for services service delivery through the missionaries and Kiaps at the time.
Chief and leader in Polopa region and also the Public Relations officer with Civpac Mr. Stanley Arunae Kopono said , today it’s a huge relieve for the people of Polopa , Sambirigi, Yanguri and Marorogo in Kagua Erave district to witness the connect of the road. He said the event which is set for the 6th December 2021 is to bring everyone together in unity to embrace the Governments 2050 vision and work together for the better. I want to thank late Anderson Aigiru who initiated this project and thank Peter O'Niel for implementing the first section of the road from Sembirigi to Sisike River and Erave to Marorogo through Oil Search Ltd under Tax Credit and also thank the Prime Minister Hon. James Marape through Works Department.
Coordinator for the organizing committee Mr. Ali Hondi said now it’s time to leave our differences and celebrate the spirit of Unity, Solidarity and oneness. He said land disputes and issues have kept us under a slavery of development and progress in life.
Today I also declared that this event will highlight some of our plans and ambitions moving forward with other development that is also having such as, Rebuilding Erave Airport Project, and Road Sealing from Kagua to Kikori Project and Wolu to Mt Tawa Road Road Project.
Ali said since all this is happening, we don’t want to be an spectators. He said we will be placed in the center of the economic corridor with other major projects, the 2nd Papuan LNG and Proposed Kikori Main Port or wharf . He said we have invited the Prime Minister Hon. James Marape, our Governor and member for Kagua Erave including other dignitaries to attend.
The event date is set for Thursday the 6th December 2021 and will be followed by other cultural programs, concerts and many activities as we anticipate.
Invitations are open to all Kagua/Erave and SHP as a whole to witness and celebrate this significant milestone.
