PNG Police Chief Manning leads 35 Member Security Team to Solomon Islands
Papua New Guinea Police Commissioner David Manning is leading a 35 member strong security team to the trouble-torn Solomon Islands.
The 35 member security team comprises 20 Police and 15 Correctional service personnel.

Mr. Manning is currently on the ground in the capital, Honiara to assess the situation.
According to advice from the Prime Minister's office - Mr Manning will return tonight to advise the Government on appropriate security assistance.
This follows the request by the Solomon Islands Prime Minister Manasseh Sogovare for security support, in light of days of civil unrest.
Mr. Manning will hold a media conference at 7:30 tonight in Port Moresby's tropic air terminal upon his return from Honiara.
