PNG Deputy Prime Minister Sam Basil Cleared of Corruption allegations
Papua New Guinea Deputy Prime Minister and Member for Bulolo Sam Basil has been cleared by a Leadership Tribunal, of all the allegations of misconduct in office that were levelled against him

The Tribunal chaired by Justice Allen David in its decision on a verdict at the Waigani National Court this morning found Mr. Basil not guilty and dismissed all the five allegations.
The tribunal ruled that the evidence presented had no merits and did not meet the relevant standard of proof to sustain the allegations.
It ordered that the suspension of the Leader under Section 28 of the Organic Law on the Duties and Responsibilities of Leadership be lifted and discharged forthwith.
Amongst the orders, a copy of the Tribunal's decision and verdict shall be sent to the Speaker for presentation to the National Parliament and to the National Executive Council.
