PNG PM Marape: Provincial Government System Important

PNG Prime Minister James Marape says Provincial Government is an important arm of the government system, that needs to be funded and supported.

He said the National Budgets over the last three (3) years was more provincial and district focused, given the fact that this is where the bulk of the population lives.

Mr Marape said this during the presentation of the Madang Provincial Budget.

He also adds that the PMIZ project in Madang will also be re-looked at as part of the government’s ongoing revitalization plans.

Mr Marape says that despite what critics may say, his government has been working to ensure economic empowerment is provided for the people, and this is channelled through the provincial governments.

He also says that the National Government will be putting in more funding into the Madang Province for different sectors, as well as 10 roads to be funded by the World Bank and Asian Development Bank, apart from the K100 million investment to resurrect the PMIZ Project.
