PNG Gives unconditional Consent to Tesltra Acquisition of Digicel & Transfer of Licence Rights
Papua New Guinea through the board of the National Information and Communication Technology Authority (NICTA) has formally given its final and unconditional consent to Telstra's acquisition of Digicel Pacific subsidiary and transfer of licence rights.

PNG's Minister responsible for Information and Communication Technology, Timothy Masiu made this known today (Monday- 11.04.22).
Telstra and Digicel initially advised the government and NICTA to acquire the Digicel Pacific business in October 2021.
The businesses amongst the Digicel Pacific group are Digicel PNG limited and Hitron Limited, both of which have individual operator licences which enable them to provide ICT services in PNG.
Once the acquisition process is completed, Telstra will have 100% ownership rights of all Digicel Pacific businesses.
