10,000 Security Personnel to involve in PNG Elections
A total of 10 thousand security personnel will be involved in this year's PNG National Elections.
Assistant Commissioner of Police, Dr. Philip Mitna told the NBC Government 'Talkback show' this is the joint security force task which comprises 1200 defence personnel, 6000 police personnel with reservists and 500 Correctional servicemen.
He adds, that the focus will be on the Highlands with the Quick response force (QRF) on the ground already, for deployment to the hotpot areas next Monday.
Meanwhile, Polling for the 2022 National Elections is expected to be conducted within one week and not beyond that period.
According to the Electoral Commission schedule, polling is from the 04th to the 11th of July 2022.
PNG Electoral Commission Simon Sinai says this is to allow enough time for counting.
The Electoral Commissioner also indicated that under unforeseen circumstances in some areas polling may be entended but all is expected to be completed within a week.
