PNG Elections : Ballot Paper Distribution begins
The PNG Electoral Commission is sending 12 million ballot papers throughout the country, starting today.
Electoral Commissioner Simon Sinai says, 6 million is for the open seats whilst another 6 million is for the regional seats.
There is close to 5 point 7 million voters based on the latest common role updates.
There are 22 Regional Seats, and 96 Open Seats with the addition of 7 new electorates in this election.
Mr Sinai was on hand to see the delivery of the first ballot papers to Western Province this morning at Jacksons Airport in Port Moresby.
Sinai says, starting next Monday all ballot papers and other remaining election materials will be sent out to all provinces.
He further thanked the PNG and Australian government for the partnership.
Sinai has urged everyone to prepare for polling as the Electoral Commission is ready and wants everyone to cooperate and ensure the next phase of election progresses smoothly.
The distribution of ballot papers is being supervised by the PNG Police and Defense Force assisted by the Australian Defense Force.
