Police in PNG's Vanimo demand their Election Allowances
Members of the Police in Papua New Guinea's West Sepik Province are still waiting for the payment of their election allowances.
Provincial Police Commander for West Sepik Senior Inspector Joe Poema says they are aware the funding has been released by the Electoral Commission to the Royal PNG Constabulary.
The police officers who have been deployed to provide security during the nomination and campaign period have recently demanded their allowances.
The policemen and women demanded their allowances from the returning officers, however, PPC Poema advised his officers that the payment of their allowances will be done by the RPNGC and not the electoral commission.
He said the Electoral Commission has already released the funds to RPNGC and it is now on their part to ensure the allowances are paid on time.
