PNG PM James Marape retains his Tari - Pori Open seat
Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape has retained his Tari - Pori Open seat. He is the first Member of Parliament to be declared in the 2022 National Election with a absolute majority votes. After conclusion of the third day of counting in Tari, he polled 40913 votes well above the absolute majority.

Mr. Marape has again made history to be the first to be declared for the third time in PNG politics.
The people of Tari Pori in the Hela Province have returned Mr. Marape to be their mandated leader in the 11th National Parliament.
The country's eight Prime Minister went pass the absolute majority mark of 32, 500- plus 1 vote, after completion of the primary vote count this afternoon.
Tari Pori Returning Officer Willie Kara makes the election declaration at 4:49 pm this afternoon.
Mr. Marape continues to make history to be declared the first elected M-P in the last three national elections.
The Prime Minister was very emotional in his maiden speech, after being declared.
The first member elect for the 2022 National Election, now gives Pangu Party the first seat in Parliament.
