People will vote for Prime Minister , says PNG PM Marape
Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape wants people to vote for Prime Minister . He announce this while speaking at the Government House. Mr Marape says by 2027, eligible voters will vote for the Prime Minister.
Marape was at the Government Haus this morning when his party (Pangu Parti) was invited by the Governor General for the formation of government .
Mr. Marape says, after the new government is formed, the government will focus on; the Census Update, looking into laws which will enable voters to vote for Prime Minister, find solutions to the pressing issues that the country is currently facing.
"For individual citizens to vote for Prime Minister will be a better system as citizens can vote in all layers of government from local to district to provincial to national," Marape added.
Meanwhile, the election of the Parliament speaker and the prime minister is expected tomorrow (Tuesday, 9 August). So the Pangu pati camp has over 82 MPs.
