PNG High Court refuses O'Neill's bid to stay Parliament Sitting

A three-men Supreme Court bench has refused an urgent application by Peter O'Neill this morning seeking orders to stay the Parliament from sitting today.

Mr. O'Neill is arguing that for Parliament to be called, there has to be a declaration of all 118 seats.

The bench refused the application after it ruled that there is no urgency in the application.

Solicitor-General Tauvasa Tanuvasa who represented the Attorney-General in the matter said Parliament is already in the process of meeting this morning and Mr O'Neill did not satisfy the court that he would be prejudiced in any way if Parliament met.
