Sia Wins Eastern Highlands Regional Seat
Businessman and Peoples National Congress Party candidate Simon Sia was officially declared as Eastern Highlands Governor.
He was declared by Provincial Returning Officer, Livingston Mangero at 7:10 am today at the National Sports Institute.
Mr Sia raced home to victory with 202,624 votes surpassing the absolute majority mark of 179,539.
Counting for EH Regional Seat successfully continued into exclusion 61, before the last two.
Mr Sia polled 202,624 votes exceeding the absolute majority mark of 179,539.
On the second spot is outgoing Governor Peter Numu with 156,452 votes.
Mr Sia accompanied by wife Serene, officially signed the writ witness by the electoral commission officials, Henganofi MP Robert Atiyafa and the provincial administration representatives.
Mr Sia in his official speech thank the people of EHP for giving him the authority to represent them in the 11th Parliament.
He further congratulate the eight open MPs of EHP and says he would work together with them to take back EHP.
Mr Sia thank the electoral officials and the security forces for their tireless efforts in making sure the election concluded successfully.
Sia is a naturalised citizen of PNG originally from Malaysia, a businessman and a philanthropist who's contributed allot to social development and growth of Eastern Highlands Province through his network and business over so many years.
