Sir Julius Blames bad leadership for Current Trend in Election Violence & Killings in PNG
Papua New Guinea's Governor for New Ireland Province Sir Julius Chan has blamed the leaders for the current trend and behaviour of people to attack each other and the divides among others.
Sir Julius highlighted this when congratulating Prime Minister James Marape for his re-election during the first sitting of the 11th parliament yesterday (Tuesday 9th of August 2022).
He says as elected leaders it's their mandate to move out of these behaviours and carry the country forward.
''Mr Speaker our people are attacking each other, they are killing each other, our people divided as they have rarely been divided in the past and though I am ashamed to say it, there are those amongst us leaders, who have encouraged this behaviour and we must change that.
''We are sometimes the cause of it but don't just live with it, we got to correct ourselves, leave those things behind.
''Am not here to cast any blame on anyone, but it's time to move beyond those behaviours and move this nation forward,'' said Sir Julius.
