PNG Acting PM Rosso welcomes visiting Vatican Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle

Papua New Guinea's Acting Prime Minister John Rosso welcome the visiting Vatican Cardinal, Luis Antonio Tagle today in Port Moresby. 

Rosso says the PNG Government has worked closely with Catholic Church as a key development partner.

The Deputy Prime Minister said the Government is looking forward to advancing more cooperation with the Vatican to address pressing issues discussed through international forums.

DPM Rosso said the church continues to provide spiritual needs for people and is crucial for a developing country.

PNG’s diplomatic relations with the Vatican were formalized on the 7th of March 1977.

Cardinal Tagle will be on his way to Mt Hagen for the consecration of a new cathedral.
