PNG Police Confiscate 250kg of Cocaine worth $150 million

 Papua New Guinea Police Commissioner David Manning  has  confirmed to local media that his men intercepted and confiscated 250 kilograms of illegal drugs  methamphetamine  and apprehended two Malaysians and two Papua New Guineans after  being tipped off during the early hours of 2am today in NCD.


Manning says a small quantity of the illegal substance was  supposed to be posted overseas but was intercepted by police. 

This led to the arrest of the two PNG nationals and two expatriates of Malaysian origin.

Manning says there is an emergence  of a well organized crime syndicate involving nationals and expatriates and it is posing a threat to National security as well as threat to the young and mobile population of Papua New Guinea.

The suspects are in police custody and will be charged under the Amended Act on Dangerous Drugs Act and other Proceeds Crime Act and Money Laundering Act.

Manning commends his policemen for this successful operation under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Donald Yamasombi.

He says investigations into this matter is ongoing with more arrests to be made soon.

The street value of  this 250kg methamphetamine can fetch up to US$150million.
