The objectives of the SRC are to encourage leadership skills of students and to give them experience in problem solving and making decisions.

Minister Polye said Papua New Guinea needs to breed a new generation of leaders and restoring and giving more powers to SRC and student leaders in tertiary institutions is the way forward.

Being a former SRC President of the University of Technology in Lae, Morobe Province, Mr. Polye believes that by restoring the SRC, the future of the nation can be moulded and shaped properly.

Meantime, Minister Polye encouraged young people to go to church and learn Godly principles and also to learn self-discipline which he said is key for personal growth.
