PNG Ombudsman Commission Opens Office in Enga Province

Ombudsman Commission has opened it's new office at Wabag town, Enga Province to serve the Western end of the Highlands Region.
The opening ceremony was held yesterday (Friday) at Wabag town.
The celebrations and opening speeches were done at the town grandstand before the official opening of the office by the Minister for Justice and Attorney General Pila Niningi.

The event was attended by Enga Governor Sir Peter Ipatas, Chief Ombudsman Richard Pagen along with his team and the Provincial Administrators of Hela, Enga and Southern Highlands.
Chief Ombudsman Richard Pagen said Ombudsman Commission was pleased to see a new office which will focus on honest and effective service delivery to the people of the three provinces in the western end of the Highlands region.
The Chief Ombudsman clarified to the people their role and encouraged them to report if they don't see any service delivery and non performance by public servants with leadership roles.
Enga Governor Sir Peter Ipatas also thanked the Ombudsman Commission for setting up office and gave assurance that the provincial government would provide land for a permanent office building and staff housing.
Meanwhile, Minister for Justice and Attorney General Pila Niningi who opened the office, challenged the people to hold their leaders accountable.
He also challenged public office bearers to do their jobs honestly and transparently so that Ombudsman Commission doesn't go knocking on their doors.
The people of Hela, Enga and Southern Highlands Provinces can no longer go to Port Moresby to file complaints on lack of basic services and misuse of public funds.
Meanwhile, the people of Enga have also been encouraged to take care of Ombudsman Commission staff because their presence would bring people from the two provinces who would spend money in Wabag town.
