Port Moresby Police Monitoring University Campus
NCD Metropolitan Superintendent Silva Sika is appealing to the students of the University of Papua New Guinea, to respect their other colleagues and refrain from taking the Law into their own hands.
He said this following reports that students have blocked the roads into the campus, following the signing of the Defence Force Agreement, between PNG and United States yesterday
Mr. Sika was responding to NBC News wen enquired about pictures, which have gone viral on social media, where Government vehicles were being stoned, and things burned at the round-about along the Waigani Drive.
The Metropolitan Superintendent said that police are currently monitoring the situation, and will only move onto the campus, if the situation gets out of hand, and becomes a criminal matter.
He has also appealed to the student population, to respect the wishes of others who wish not to get involved in any more protests, and return back to classes.
