More Foreign Investments Projected through Livestock Market in PNG

The Papua New Guinea Livestock Development Corporation (LDC) is now the first commodity Board to go into a 2 year membership with the PNG, HongKong - China Chamber of commerce.

This membership will broaden LDC's  access to markets for livestock products in China.

The PNG HongKong- China Chamber of Commerce (PNGHCCC) is an organization focused on promoting bilateral relationship between PNG and China.

PNGHCCC Executive Director David Kumis during the presentation of the membership certificate last Friday (011223) highlighted the Chamber's role in driving foreign Investment and creating market connections and avenues for PNG products in Asia.

Mr. Kumis commended the LDC for taking this bold step to promote and access markets abroad.

He said by doing so, LDC is expressing its vision to create sustainability and enrich the Livestock industry by way of foreign Investment and market accessibility.

Mr Kumis added that this membership also garuntees the Chinese government's support in ensuring Livestock products through LDC meet the appropriate requirements.

LDC Managing Director Terry Koim said this membership is a step toward realizing LDC's goal to bring in foreign Investment and promote our Livestock products abroad.

He said Livestock products like pork and poultry have a huge market in Asian countries.

"PNG has the potential to meet at least a notable percentage of this demand and this partnership will enable this", he said..

Mr. Koim added that this will be a great opportunity for many small scale farmers as well, as this relationship through the PNGHCCC will ensure markets are available for our products.

Meantime, Mr. Koim revealed that poultry is most likely to be the first Livestock product to be exported seeing that there is a huge demand for poultry in Asia.
