PNG PM Marape thankful as France gives over K400 million for Forest Conservation

Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape has thanked the France government for giving  over K400 million (US$1.5 million) for forest conservation in his country.  “I want to appreciate France President HE I. Macron for giving great respect to  my country’s forest landowners by giving over K400m for income substitution for forest conservation. He also gave me personal respect by meeting me after the Sabbath hours''. Marape said. 


'To my country; we are a big forest and ocean nation, the world is hearing us that these resources we have supplies oxygen to humanity and cleanses earth of pollutants. 

Since my first UN meeting in 2019 and in all my international meetings, I have been sounding out that our forest and ocean preserved must be compensated by those who have big carbon footprints.

"I commend France under HE Macron for putting money to honor the Paris Accord. I will ask USA, China, Japan, UK, Australia, South Korea, India , German, and present host of COP 28 UAE to help PNG’s Forest and Ocean resources management'.

The climate change concerns will find it’s mitigation roots in the management of forest and marine ecosystems in it’s pure form and PNG and Pacific has premium forest and ocean resources. “
