Kroton Hela Wigmen Forward, Kahya Ross Jnr, Seals Move to Queensland-based Club

Kroton Hela Wigmen have officially confirmed the departure of emerging forward Kahya Ross Jnr from their ranks. Ross Jnr has secured an opportunity with a Queensland-based club in Australia, marking an immediate move for a season-long deal.

The young talent is set to join the Central Queensland Capras in Rockhampton for the upcoming 2024 Queensland Hostplus Cup season, adding depth and strength to their lineup.

Ross Jnr's tenure with the Wigmen spans two seasons. He made his debut in the Digicel-ExxonMobil Cup last year and spent the entire 2022 season as a development player, showcasing his growth and potential within the team.

CEO of the Wigmen, Patrick Wundai, confirmed Ross Jnr's departure to Kalang Sports News, indicating the player's relocation to the Capras without delving into the specifics of the contract.

Ross Jnr's impactful performance in the Wigmen jersey, particularly in the previous season, has contributed significantly to the team's campaigns, making his move a notable loss for the club.

While Rockhampton becomes his new home, Ross Jnr is expected to find camaraderie among fellow Papua New Guinean players currently representing the Capras, including Zev John, Bob Tenza, Samuel Yegip, and PNG Kumul Valentine Richard.

His arrival aims to fill the void created by the departures of Nixon Putt and McKenzie Yei, who previously played for the Wigmen and have now pursued opportunities abroad in the UK.

Although an official announcement from the Capras regarding Ross Jnr's signing is pending, speculation suggests that confirmation from the club might be imminent in the following days.

Ross Jnr becomes the third player from the Wigmen to transition to the Capras while associated with the Wigmen, joining the likes of premiership-winning skipper Richard (re-signed) and Yegip.
