Families Across Papua New Guinea Benefit from Air Niugini’s Discounted Nambawan Fares for Graduation Travel
Families across Papua New Guinea are taking advantage of Air Niugini’s discounted Nambawan fares to travel and celebrate their children’s graduation milestones. The airline’s initiative offers savings of up to 60% on standard ticket prices, with five price points available throughout most of the year. This has allowed families to plan their travel without straining their budgets.
At Air Niugini’s sales offices nationwide, several families shared how the discounted fares have made attending graduations more affordable. In Goroka, Rueben and Paute Sorepha purchased seven tickets under the Nambawan fares to attend the graduation of their daughter, Destinilla, from the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG). Standard one-way airfares to and from Goroka typically cost K900 per person, but the discounted fares allowed them to save over K6,000.
Similarly, Kuks Iva, also from Goroka, bought six tickets under the Nambawan fares for his family to attend his son’s graduation in Computer Science at UPNG. “This is a special and memorable occasion for us, and the discounted fares will help us plan our activities before and after the ceremony,” he remarked.
In Mount Hagen, trout farmers Samuel Opa and his wife Wati traveled to Port Moresby for their son’s graduation. “We are so happy. These cheap ticket prices made it possible for us to attend our son’s graduation in Port Moresby,” Mr. Opa said enthusiastically.
In Lae, Alita Sari, a single mother, purchased five tickets to attend her daughter’s admission to the bar following training at the Legal Training Institute. “I couldn’t contain my happiness. I spent over K3,000 on eight tickets and saved up to K6,000. I’m also bringing my sisters and sister-in-law to witness this special day. This wouldn’t have been possible without the discounted Nambawan fares,” she shared.
Janet Kakapu, an employee at Guard Dog in Lae, purchased six tickets for her son’s graduation at IBS University outside Port Moresby. “It’s a great relief for me and my family during these tough economic times. The normal fares would have cost us over K10,000, but with the Nambawan fares, we saved K7,000,” she said. Ms. Kakapu encouraged others to take advantage of the offer by searching online or visiting Air Niugini sales offices.
Francis Taks and Paulus Ten from Lae also purchased return tickets for Mr. Ten’s son’s graduation at the Port Moresby Technical College. “We didn’t know such cheap airfares existed. It’s helping us manage our expenses for the graduation. Thank you, Air Niugini, for the Nambawan fares,” Mr. Ten expressed.
In Kokopo, East New Britain, Pastor Nelson Ainu bought two return tickets from Rabaul to Port Moresby for his son Michael’s graduation at the same institution. “These fares are a big help for us parents during graduation season and even for mission work. I paid less than K2,000, while the normal return fares would have cost over K5,000,” he said.
Back in Port Moresby, many students like Shannen Manisa traveled on the discounted fares to attend their own graduations. Miss Manisa, accompanied by her mother, attended her graduation at Goroka Technical College, capitalizing on the affordability of the Nambawan fares.
