PNG Minister Goi Defends NiuSky Management Amid Misappropriation Allegations

PNG Minister for Civil Aviation Wake Goi has dismissed claims of misappropriation involving K2.48 million by NiuSky Pacific Limited as baseless and retaliatory. He stated that the accusations stem from disgruntled former employees of the organization who were terminated.

Goi made the comments during an interview with NBC News, where he clarified that he has only recently assumed office and that the alleged incidents took place under a previous ministerial administration.

While reaffirming his stance against corruption, Minister Goi questioned why it took the complainants so long to bring the issue to light if their claims were genuine.

He further revealed that the warrant of arrest previously issued for Acting Managing Director Graham Blythe and Board Chairman Robin Kawat had been cancelled due to procedural defects. “The evidence presented didn’t align, and the CID office wasn’t properly informed,” he explained.

Goi added that the case file had now been recalled by the Officer-in-Charge of CID for closer scrutiny and analysis in Konedobu.

According to the Minister, there were irregularities in how the warrant was processed, suggesting that an individual officer acted without full CID involvement. He said further developments are expected in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, Goi is calling on all stakeholders to cooperate with authorities as investigations proceed through the proper legal channels.
