Brisbane Broncos Superstars Bring NRL and NRLW Trophies to Papua New Guinea
The NRL and NRLW premiership trophies have officially arrived in Port Moresby, marking the beginning of the Brisbane Broncos’ Trophy Tour in Papua New Guinea. The arrival generated excitement among rugby league fans who gathered in large numbers to welcome their heroes and celebrate the club’s success.
Hundreds of supporters filled Jacksons International Airport as early as 6am to greet the visiting delegation. Among those arriving were Broncos superstars Ezra Mam, Ben Hunt, and captain Adam Reynolds, along with the Women’s NRL Brisbane Broncos team’s premiership shield, highlighting the club’s dominance in both men’s and women’s competitions.
The Trophy Tour marks a proud moment for Papua New Guinea, a country where rugby league is deeply embedded in the national identity. Fans cheered as the players and officials arrived, waving team flags and chanting in celebration of the Broncos’ arrival.
According to team representatives, the Trophy Tour aims to celebrate the club’s achievements and strengthen their bond with the Broncos’ passionate fan base across PNG. The event will feature trophy displays, community visits, and meet-and-greet sessions with players and officials, giving locals the chance to see the trophies up close.
Before beginning their provincial tour tomorrow (Sunday), the Broncos team will attend today’s international rugby league match between the PNG Kumuls and the Cook Islands in Port Moresby. Their presence at the game is expected to boost excitement and showcase the close relationship between the Broncos and PNG’s rugby league community.
Following the match, the team will travel to Hela, Western Highlands, and Eastern Highlands Provinces as part of their Trophy Tour. The visits are intended to share the celebration beyond the capital and inspire young Papua New Guineans to pursue their dreams through rugby league.
