PNG Launches Reset PNG@50 to Drive Long-Term National Reforms
Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape has announced the National Executive Council’s endorsement of Reset PNG@50, a new national reform blueprint that will shape policy, planning, and implementation for the next twenty years.
Speaking during the announcement, Prime Minister Marape described the initiative as a “decisive turning point” that commemorates 50 years of independence while steering the nation toward achieving the aspirations of Vision 2050.
“Reset PNG@50 represents a strategic renewal for our nation — a time to assess where we have come from, confront our challenges honestly, and set a clear path for the next generation,” Mr. Marape said.
He explained that the framework aims to create greater alignment across government priorities and institutions to ensure tangible outcomes for the country. The reform, he added, is designed to foster accountability and measurable progress across all sectors.
“This is not just a policy document — it’s a commitment to do better as a government and as a people,” the Prime Minister said. “Reset PNG@50 will help us focus our resources, improve service delivery, and empower every Papua New Guinean to participate meaningfully in national growth.”
Further details on the framework will be unveiled in the coming weeks, following the NEC’s approval for nationwide consultations and the development of sectoral implementation plans.
