PNG Education Dept launches five education apps to improve school systems nationwide
Papua New Guinea has taken another step towards digital transformation with the introduction of five new education applications designed to streamline school administration and improve accountability across the country.
Unveiled by the Department of Education, the platforms are expected to address long-standing inefficiencies in teacher management, student enrollment and funding transparency within PNG’s education system.

Acting Education Minister Kinoka Feo said the initiative reflects a broader government vision to embrace digital solutions in public service delivery.
“Today, we’re not just launching a software, we are witnessing the demonstration of a broader national mandate,” he said.
He said the development aligns with the Government’s focus on making 2026 a landmark year for ICT-driven governance, where digital tools will play a central role in improving services.
Education Secretary Dr Uke Kombra said the applications support key national frameworks, including the Education Transformation Vision 2075 and the National Education Plan 2020–2029.
He noted that the systems will help strengthen oversight of free education funding while improving efficiency in managing teachers and student data.
“These reforms are part of our commitment to leave no child behind,” Dr Kombra said, acknowledging support from partners such as UNICEF, JICA and the Global Partnership for Education.
Senior officials within the department stressed the need for strong coordination, policy alignment and ongoing support for teachers as the systems are rolled out.
The ICT Division said training programs are being conducted for provincial officers, although connectivity in remote areas remains a concern.
The Teacher Services Commission highlighted that the eRODSS system will reduce delays in teacher placements and payroll processing, ensuring more reliable records.
Among the new platforms are the Teacher Pay Query System, GFEP Acquittal System, Student Admission System and the “Where’s My School” application, each designed to improve service delivery and transparency.
While challenges such as internet access and capacity building remain, officials believe the initiative marks a major shift towards a more efficient and accountable education system in PNG.
