Sir Bob praised Marianville for its consistent academic performance over the years, describing it as one of the country’s leading institutions for girls’ education and a symbol of discipline and achievement.
He reflected on the school’s history, noting that it began with a small number of students but has grown into a respected institution with a strong national reputation and a large student population.
The Governor-General also acknowledged the achievements of former students, many of whom have gone on to contribute meaningfully in sectors such as government, education, health and business across the country.
While celebrating the milestone, he also pointed to ongoing national challenges, including economic pressures and social issues, urging students to remain focused on their education as a pathway to overcoming such difficulties.
Sir Bob encouraged the school community to pursue the long-term vision of transforming Marianville into an academy and eventually a university for girls, expressing confidence that such a development would strengthen opportunities for women in Papua New Guinea.
