Telikom PNG Expands Connectivity With Starlink Partnership
PNG telecommunications provider Telikom Limited says its new agreement with Starlink will help extend internet and digital services to more communities and businesses throughout the country.
The company announced yesterday in Port Moresby that it has become an official authorised reseller for Starlink services in Papua New Guinea.
Telikom said the partnership would target enterprise customers, government agencies, financial institutions, small businesses and the mining sector, while also supporting existing VSAT users nationwide.
Group Chief Executive Officer Amos Tepi said the low-earth orbit satellite technology offered new opportunities for Papua New Guinea’s communications sector.
“Telikom Limited believes this new generation of low-earth orbit satellite technology presents major opportunities to transform digital access, strengthen national connectivity resilience, and enable broader economic growth throughout Papua New Guinea,” Mr Tepi said.
He said the company’s strategy was to integrate Starlink services with existing communication systems already operated by Telikom.
“This partnership is not about replacing existing connectivity platforms, but about complementing our overall national connectivity strategy through a combination of fibre, mobile, cloud, VSAT, and satellite technologies to better serve the people and businesses of Papua New Guinea,” he said.
Telikom said it would handle local customer engagement, billing, installation coordination and support services under the arrangement.
The company added that customers will also have access to bundled solutions involving internet services, mobile connectivity, cloud platforms and enterprise-managed services.
Telikom said the partnership reflected growing cooperation between Papua New Guinea and the United States in digital technology and innovation.
The company thanked Starlink, SpaceX and the Marape-Rosso Government for supporting the agreement, describing it as a new phase for digital connectivity in PNG.
