PNG's Ruling PANGU Party Boasts of Development Record at Convention Expo

Papua New Guinea's ruling Pangu Party has used its Convention Expo in Port Moresby to highlight development projects and government services delivered across the country during its seven years in office.

The expo, which opened at the Hilton Hotel yesterday, is being held alongside the party's national convention and brings together delegates, students, party supporters and members of the public to learn about projects undertaken by the Government.

Minister for Works and Highways and Regional Member for Bougainville, Peter Tsiamalili Jnr, officially opened the exhibition and said it provided an opportunity to showcase the achievements of the Pangu-led Government.

Mr Tsiamalili said the party's vision for Papua New Guinea was focused on long-term growth and development, adding that major changes could not be achieved within a short period of time.

He pointed to the Connect PNG programme as one of the government's key initiatives, saying the nationwide road network project was creating links between communities and laying the foundation for future economic opportunities.

"The dream that we have is not owned by us leaders, but collectively owned by all of us," Mr Tsiamalili said.

He urged students and other visitors attending the expo to take ownership of the country's future and contribute to nation-building through their studies, work and community involvement.

Students from the University of Papua New Guinea, IBS University and several schools in the National Capital District attended the opening, while Pangu Party branches from NCD and Motu Koita also took part in the event.

A highlight of the expo was the interaction between young people and Pangu Party MPs, allowing students to ask questions and learn more about government policies, projects and services.

The exhibition continues today and tomorrow, with delegates from around the country expected to visit displays featuring development projects being delivered in their respective provinces before the convention ends on Friday.
