PNG Nasfund Assets Cross K10 Billion Mark in First Half of 2026
Papua New Guinea’s National Superannuation Fund (Nasfund) has pushed its net assets beyond the K10 billion mark, reaching K10.25 billion by June 30, 2026, up from K9.45 billion at the end of last year.
The K800 million increase in six months places the retirement savings fund on stronger financial footing, with Nasfund attributing the growth to investment performance, steady contributions from employers and members, sound governance and tighter management of operating costs.

Nasfund chief executive officer Rajeev Sharma said the result reflected the organisation’s continued expansion and its focus on safeguarding members’ retirement savings.
"Reaching over K10 billion in the first six months of 2026 is a testament to our continued growth and financial resilience in a dynamic economic environment," Sharma said.
He said the achievement was made possible through a diversified investment portfolio, regular contributions and disciplined financial management.
Nasfund also recorded growth in its membership base during the first six months of the year, with more than 26,000 new members joining the fund.
The number of actively contributing members has now reached 220,175.
The fund received K458 million in contributions during the period, adding further value to members’ retirement savings.
At the same time, K351 million was paid out in member benefits, reflecting Nasfund’s ability to meet financial obligations to its contributors.
Cash revenue also rose to K316 million, representing a two per cent increase compared with the same period last year.
Sharma said the performance demonstrated the importance of the fund’s governance systems and the continued cooperation of contributing employers.
"Crossing the K10 billion mark reflects our robust governance frameworks, expanding membership base, and focus on operational efficiency. It is also a direct result of the commitment of our contributing employers and the hard work of our dedicated Nasfund team," he said.
The results were contained in Nasfund’s 2026 half-year performance report, which recorded positive movement across key areas of the business.
Sharma thanked members, employers, stakeholders and Nasfund staff for their continued support.
"I thank our employers, members, stakeholders, and the hardworking employees of Nasfund. This milestone reinforces our goal to ensure all members are ready for tomorrow," he said.
