PNG Air Offers Mendi Alternative for Mt Hagen Travellers

PNG passengers travelling through the Highlands will have another option as PNG Air introduces a temporary Wednesday flight to Mendi to cater for travellers affected by runway works at Kagamuga Airport. The additional service begins on September 30 and is intended to assist passengers heading to and from the Mt Hagen area.

The new flight will operate alongside PNG Air’s regular Monday and Friday services to Mendi, taking the weekly total to three flights. The temporary arrangement will remain in place until October 15.

The National Airports Corporation is carrying out runway extension works at Kagamuga, prompting the airline to provide alternative arrangements for passengers whose travel plans are affected by the project.

Mendi’s central location also gives travellers access to road transport connecting the town with Western Highlands, Hela and Enga. PMV services are available for passengers travelling along the Mendi-Kandep road, as well as to other destinations within Southern Highlands.

In a separate move, PNG Air has increased the number of flights operating from Goroka, giving passengers another alternative for their travel plans.

Travellers who want to consider the Goroka option have been advised to contact the PNG Air call centre or visit the nearest PNG Air sales office to organise their journey.
