In a WhatsApp message circulated by the Secretary, education authorities were reminded that examination security depends on everyone involved in handling the papers, particularly provincial officials and school administrators responsible for safeguarding materials after delivery.

The Secretary said the process, from question preparation and printing to distribution to the provinces, was well secured, making a leak during these stages almost impossible.

The message referred to two recent incidents in which examination papers reportedly reached areas outside designated examination rooms after arriving at schools. The Secretary attributed the problem to the actions of irresponsible school leaders and stressed the need for stronger supervision at examination centres.

Provincial Education Advisers (PEAs), inspectors, invigilators and school administrators were urged to take ownership of examination security, monitor procedures and report any breaches.

The Secretary also said measures were available to contain security breaches and minimise their effects, encouraging provinces to act responsibly rather than create panic among candidates.

“Don’t panic, encourage provinces to take ownership and monitor and report,” the Secretary said.

The message ended with the Secretary wishing all students well in their examinations and thanking stakeholders for their support.
