Kumul Flyover in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea .
Prime Minister Peter O'Neill has renamed Kookaburra Flyover and Poreporena Freeway as Kumul Flyover and Kumul Highway respectively.  Mr.O'Neill announced this during the Kumul Flyover opening ceremony this morning.

Mr.O'Neill said, the word Kookaburra is nothing to do with Papua New Guinea as it was used by the Australian colonial administrators to name the street in Erima. Therefore we shall now call the flyover as Kumul Flyover as this name represents us all.

In regards to the freeway from Downtown Port Moresby to 9-Mile, he said there was no name given to the highway but most often we use Poreporena freeway because it goes  through the hill of Poreporena. "Therefore, we shall now call the freeway  Kumul Highway.

He said the Highway from 9-Mile to Kerema be remained as Hiritano Highway. However, for 9-mile - Sogeri road, we will construct four-lane road all the way to 17-mile and we will call  it Kokoda Highway.
