The government has announced increased funding for jetties throughout all coastal districts.
In line with this, it will provide One Million kina under the coastal vessel program through National Planning Department for Kiriwina-Goodenough electorate in Milne Bay Province.
Prime Minister O’Neill flew into Kiriwina Island to officiate at the opening of a jetty in Kebola village.
Not only was he welcomed by the islanders but tourists who arrived on board the Pacific Dawn.
The Prime Minister arrived to a rousing welcome by the famous Tapioka dancers of Trobriand Islands.
Accompanying the Prime Minister were national planning minister, Charles Abel and tourism minister Boka Kondra.
He was then invited to address the people of Kiriwina and also the guests on the island.
He outlined that his government’s main aim is provide basic infrastructures that will serve the rural population.
The O’Neill led government has a jetty roll-out program that it aims to extend and fast-track.
