Is Don Polye attacking his own government?
Don Polye |
Opinion /Commentary
Today, Minister Polye decided to take the radio waves across PNG, to discuss why he was removed from his Treasury position.
This could have been a very positive and constructive interview, but quickly turned into a position of Minister Polye, unknowing, creating more confusion around himself, and also de-stabilizing his own Government position.
In the interview, the Minister Hon. Polye has made numerous claims, mostly around pending court cases and the Oil Search share process.
During this interview, he has changed his story with regard to the pending Paraka court cases and many other items.
This is a unfortunate situation and does not reflect well on Minister Polye. It has now put him in a position of whether he is actually telling the truth?’.
Only weeks ago, he stood next the Prime Minister supporting him completely and standing behind the findings of Task Force Sweep, and the clearing of the Prime Minister with regards to this case.
Today, he has made a direct attack on the Prime Minister and changed his story.
The Prime Minister during the re-shuffle of his cabinet, made the direct and clear reasoning that Minister Polye was removed, is due to his consistent motivation to de-stabilize the Government and his inability to properly managing the Treasury Portfolio as needed by the Government going forward.
It has disappointed the Prime Minister Hon. Peter O’Neill that Minister Polye has decided to take this course of action.
“As a Minister for the Government, and for his own reputation, this is a very short sighted and naïve position to take. His comments are nothing but lies. My positive position out of all of this, is that, I made the right decision, at the right time.”, commented the Prime Minister
The Minister Polye has now been requested to attend an interview with PNG Police. This is to discuss this new claims and change in story over the Paraka case.
The Opposition Leader, Belden Namah is now congratulating Minister Polye in an interesting turn of events.
The interesting part to all of this, is that during the past few months, the Opposition Leader, Belden Namah, was clearly seeking to have Minister Polye arrested for corruption. This week, the Opposition Leader is inviting to have Minister Polye as part of the opposition team.
So which one is it Opposition Leader Belden Namah, are you wanting to really fight corruption or just take anyone to join you to try and achieve your own goals??
The question the Government and many of the Ministers are now asking of Minister Polye, “Why now come out with this?? It looks like you are lying to suit a new purpose..”
So the summary to all of this, and before the Opposition Leader starts asking for the Prime Minister to stand aside once more, as he has done for the past 6 months. There is no truth in Minister Polye’s interview comments.
The Minister Polye, will now need to front to PNG Police and explain his new position / story. The Opposition will need to decide what they are going to do with this…
At the end of the day, the Government and Prime Minister will get on with its job of providing for the people, while the Opposition Leader and Minister Polye work out the lies between them, to try and once again de-stabilize the Government.
