General Order of PNG Public Service outdated
The current General Order of the country's Public Service, is said to be outdated and not on par with the rest of the world.
This has resulted in the public sector dragging behind, in terms of output in service delivery, nationwide.
Human Resources expert and President of P-N-G Human Resources Institute, Jerry Wemin highlighted this, at its three-day General Annual Conference, which began in Port Moresby, yesterday.
Wemin said, while the private sector has changed with the world in technology and practices, the Government is still clinging to the old General Orders and practices, making it hard for Human Resource to flourish and grow, especially in competitive remuneration, best practice, learning and development.
He further states, that Government's attempts to improve in this area has been hampered by its systems.
Wemin suggests, Government should adopt the private sector approach to H-R Management by paying and looking after them well so that in turn, they will care for the government in terms of service delivery.
