TUVALU PM PAYS COURTESY CALL ON PRIME MINISTER HON. PETER O’NEILL

Prime Minister of Tuvalu, Enele Sopoanga, today (20/05/14) paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Hon. Peter O’Neill at his Parliament office in Port Moresby.

During their meeting, Mr Sopoanga thanked Prime Minister Hon. Peter O’Neill for his kind hospitality bestowed upon the Tuvalu Delegation during the visit to Papua New Guinea.

He also expressed his appreciation for PNG’s continued assistance in areas of climate change and rising sea levels towards Tuvalu as well as other Pacific Island nations.

Prime Minister Hon. Peter O’Neill said they had agreed to review the technical cooperation in areas of health, education and other skilled training.

“We also agreed for students to be brought in from Tuvalu by the PNG Government to be trained in our tertiary institutions.

“I further reassured my Tuvalu counterpart that PNG will continue to assist Tuvalu and our other Pacific Island neighbours,” Prime Minister Hon. Peter O’Neill said.

In response, Mr Sopoanga thanked Prime Minister Hon. Peter O’Neill for his generous gesture and guaranteed to work collectively with PNG for better outcomes during the Pacific Islands Forum in Palau later this year.
