Court to hand down decision on O'neill's arrest warrant on Tuesday
The National Court will hand down its decision on Tuesday on the case involving Prime Minister Peter O’neill’s payments to Paraka Lawyers. The court will deliberate on the arrest warrants prepared by police to issue to Prime Minister O’Neill.
It took almost two hours of submissions from the counsel representing Police Commissioner Geoffrey Vaki, Mark Varitimos, and lawyers representing the plaintiffs, James Marape and O’Neill. Justice Ere Kariko said he would rule on the application on Tuesday. The interim orders remain until that ruling on July 1.
Meanwhile, Acting Police Commissioner, Geoffrey Vaki's attempt to urgently set aside a National Court warrant to arrest the Prime Minister, has been adjourned to next week.
The case was mentioned this morning. Its understood the purpose of the adjournment was for the State to be served court documents before the matter is heard.
Greg Shepard is representing the Police Commissioner on behalf of Sam Bonner, and is set to argue that the warrant is defective.
